Freebies – free december wallpaper.

I was thinking about trying to make some bigger projects than what I was getting involved with lately. Still, I wanted to keep it rather simple, since I don’t always have a lot of time to dedicate it to specific topic. This is why I am starting new series of designs – monthly wallpapers. At first I wanted to start from January, but I do not like delaying my ideas too much so I just got onto it, even if I am couple days late ^^’.

Since there are different people of different religions and I am not a fan of Christmas decorations and pictures attacking from every corner I made it rather neutral yet pleasant to the eye.

So, since there are first snow falls and the whole atmosphere gets more wintery, I decided for a very wintery theme.

my favorite fonts.

fav fonts pic-01

I decided to make my saturday posts less project and more general design oriented subjects. So first one I want to tackle is my personal picks for favorite and most used fonts from my directory.

Probably I will make more than one of such rankings but we will see in the future 🙂 I decided to usually show rankings for free fonts, since they are available for everyone. Definitely some of them are quite popular and you probably run into them all the time but I tried to include bit less usual too.

Here we go then 🙂

Very good font with awesome technic feel to it. I used it for couple logos etc. and it really gives great engineering touch to the final look. It’s really well designed type face, only thing that causes me bit more work with it is lack of polish letters, but I usually just add them when needed.

top12 fonts-02

Beutiful font, unusual and not so easy to use but can give amazing effect to your work. It might be considered kind of ‘hipster’ type, but I think that properly used it can really turn even simple design around.

top12 fonts-03

Simple yet beautifully designed upper case font with greatly shaped glyphs. Definitely worth checking out (Even if it’s kind of cult font already 🙂 )

top12 fonts-04

I recommend both versions, since they have bit different feel to them. I designed a lot of posters and other materials for technical university students who always appreaciated its’ look. Even though Exo 2 is supposed to be improved (and on many levels is) I still often use original Exo, dependable on which fits better. Link on the picture will take you to Exo 2 download site, where you can also download older version.

top12 fonts-05

Rather unusual font, definitely can be used only as decorative font but because of unusual monosized glyphs shapes it always makes a strong impression. Unusable for longer text but looks great as headlines. I definitely recommend to look on other fonts from this foundry since all of them are quite unique 🙂

top12 fonts-06

Quite similar to High Tide (simply more abstract). It ha great native touch to it. It is quite ‘hipsterish’ but its really great font that I don’t use often but has a place in my designer heart for sure.

top12 fonts-07

a decorative font with rather unique glyph shapes which I really appreaciate. I think it’s delicate strokes combined with original glyphs makes it really beautiful.

top12 fonts-08

One of my favorites when it comes to script fonts and I decided to include it here since it’s rather untypical one among them. This font has 3 different versions, some of them enabling extremely easy glyph connecting which is really useful if such possibility is desired (I used it couple times already myself:) )

top12 fonts-09

absolute classic and definitely one of my favorite sans serif fonts. I love its’ round shapes that are amazingly pleasant to an eye and give very familiar feel without losing its’ elegance. It’s modern and crisp but roundness of letters allows it to keep somewhat familiarity for the reader.

top12 fonts-10

great upper case font with quite impressive alternating glyph collection, which allows to use either modern looking style or classical one. Amazing especialy for media like poster projects.top12 fonts-11

It’s really good font with original glyphs and charming style. I really love its’ style and it’s my go-to font when I want to use something signifiantly different than typical ooking sans serif fonts but keep its’ legibility.i use it very often on posters to make them look more youthful but at the same time keep their main informational function. This font is for personal use only, but commercial license is very cheap so I let myself add it here.

Font I use probably far too often. It’s one of my definite favorites. It’s elegant but simple, sans serif font. The fact that it was designed by polish type designer also has it’s play – because of that font has polish letters (which is very important considering that most of my projects are made in polish) . Also designed with quite wide range of weights and styles.

I hope you enjoy that collection and thanks to that you found some fonts you weren’t aware of yet (and maybe you will find your own new favorite among those). Please share with me your own favorites, I am always keen to make my font collection bigger 🙂
